Early Renewal for Gossip Girl & Vampire Diaries!

In a not so surprising move, The CW announced early renewals for Gossip Girl, The Vampire Diaries, Supernatural, America’s Next Top Model and 90210.

While ratings for Supernatural and Vampire Diaries have been very strong this season (VD gets 4 million viewers!), Gossip Girl and 90210 both suffered huge losses in viewership. Still, The CW stood by its flagship show (perhaps because the actors’ contracts require one more season?) and the relaunch of the 90′s classic.

Still waiting for renewal is Nikita and One Tree Hill; both shows have had higher ratings than Gossip Girl and 90210 so their futures look pretty good right now. Continue reading

5 Teen Movies That Should Be TV Shows

Word on the blogosphere is Disney Channel has a ton of new shows in the works (which sound pretty terrible to be honest). One of their new shows is Madison High, a High School Musical spin-off featuring that kid from Ugly Betty. Sorry Wildcats, but I don’t really think High School Musical needs or deserves a spinoff. So I’ve decided to make a list of my favorite teen movies that should be made into TV shows instead.

Mean Girls

"What do you mean High School Musical has a spinoff and I don't? Boo you whore!"

Has anyone reading this blog felt personally victimized by Regina George? Of course you have. And it was awesome! I think it’s high time everyone’s favorite bitch (sorry Blair!) got her own television show. No one cares about Cady and the other plastics are replaceable.

Need a premise? Maybe after high school was turned into Utopia, Regina was knocked out during a lacrosse game. Two weeks later she wakes up, looks at all the scars on her body and mud on her clothes and has a nervous breakdown. She immediately works to take over the school again, struggles and succeeds — just by being evil! If she faces too much happy-go-lucky opposition, she can just transfer schools and take over. Regina George world domination! Need I say more? This show should go to ABC Family — they need to make amends for the travesty of Mean Girls 2 and prove they understand what being in a clique is all about.

The CW’s Bad Ratings

Last night Fox didn’t show any new Glee, so it was a CW night all the way. Unfortunately the CW’s teen drama line-up is falling apart faster than Two and a Half Men.

TV by the Numbers recently published a post citing a large drop in The CW’s ratings. All CW shows are performing poorly — and by poorly, I mean worse than they usually perform.

Life Unexpected has already been cancelled (not that anyone cares). Hellcats, the show that once looked so promising – like a Bring It On meets High School Musical - has lost its following; their ratings are the second lowest on the network! They drew in about 0.6 adults 18-49, putting them in the “well they had a nice run” and “those uniforms were cute” territory. Continue reading

Must-See Fall Teen TV

In honor of this most special of days, 9.02.10 (the once in a lifetime beauty in which a Peach Pit milkshake is a must and any child born should be named Brenda), it seems mandatory to list the fall teen TV shows that will hopefully live up to the drama, mayhem and romance of the 90′s classic 90210. Enjoy and Happy 90210!

THE VAMPIRE DIARIES

Sex? Drama? Romance? Danger? Season 2 of The Vampire Diaries is starting to look like True Blood for the CW crowd. Love it!
