Review: Bunheads

Once upon a time I danced ballet and watched a lot of Gilmore Girls. Grand jetés and Amy Sherman-Palladino were my thing. So it should come as absolutely no surprise that I loved Bunheads. FREAKING ADORED IT.

Bunheads has everything you loved from Gilmore Girls: quick-witted female characters, snappy dialogue, Kelly Bishop and an adorable small town (with no movie theater, which is a sin against society if you ask me). With that said, Bunheads is not Gilmore Girls. Continue reading →

Review: I Just Want My Pants Back

Usually quick over-the-top dialogue and sex crazed young New Yorkers aren’t enough to make me hate a show — I watched and sort of enjoyed all of the first season of How to Make It In America. But in the case of MTV’s new scripted sex comedy I Just Want My Pants Back, I was left thinking, “I just want that hour of my life back.”

You know a show is trying too hard to be edgy and overt when people are having sex in refrigerators, friends are comparing love bites in the corner bodega and thumbs are used in weird anal sex play. Continue reading →

Review: Jane By Design

I came into ABC Family’s new show Jany By Design looking for Ugly Betty meets The Devil Wears Prada. What I got was Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitter’s Dead meets Confessions of a Shopaholic. And that’s not necessarily a bad thing, however it does leave room for improvement.

The Secret Circle: “They Will Come For You”

First let me say, dear CW, thank you. For some time I have been begging for a new witch show. Something like The Craft. Something with some mystery. Something with a better production value than Ringer. You have answered my call! Thank you.

The Secret Circle is The CW’s new Thursday night companion to The Vampire Diaries. And rightfully so. Just like Vampire Diaries, The Secret Circle is sexy, dark and filled with supernatural goodness. The characters from both series chill at a local grill, both shows have the same creators, both have a bad guy with a bad haircut (Elijah and Charles) and both shows are filmed in a moody, dreary light.
